Health Insurance Coverage
The higher education institution is obliged to inform the student that he / she should have health insurance. Some Consulates require Travel-Health Insurance during their visa application. Before applying for a visa, you must insure this insurance to cover your internship period and at least EUR 30,000.00.
Liability Insurance Coverage

The higher education institution is obliged to make sure that the student is responsible for the liability insurance. The Training Agreement contains information about whether this insurance is carried out by the host enterprise. If the insured is not obliged by the company to comply with the national legislation of the country in question, it may not be imposed on the workplace to be insured. If the Liability Insurance is not provided by the internship, the student will make the insurance.
Accident Insurance Coverage
Insurance cover for accidents at the workplace
The higher education institution is obliged to ensure that the student has accident insurance. The Training Agreement includes the information about whether this insurance is carried out by the host enterprise. If the insured is not obliged by the company to comply with the national legislation of the country in question, it may not be imposed on the workplace to be insured. If the Accident Insurance is not provided by the internship company, the student will have insurance.
You can have compulsory health insurance in two ways;
1) SSI contracted countries and health insurance:
There are some country-Turkey's Social Security Agreement. The contents of SSI agreements can be different for each country. including the negotiated health insurance countries, Turkey has guardianship of children who are working or retired parents, while they were in training for health insurance in the country can benefit from the SSI rights they go without a break. In order for the student to benefit from this right, he / she must get a document with a different code for each country from SGK. Click here for the list of countries with SGK agreement. To benefit from the health insurance, please follow the procedure to follow. The consulates of the countries you visit can give you information about the documents they request.
2) Private Health Insurance
- If you do not have an agreement for the country you are visiting, you must have health insurance covering all of your stay and cover your health expenses abroad. You must submit a copy of your insurance policy to the Erasmus Office.
